Plaquenil is known to show retinal toxicity which can effect the vision and it is imperative to be able to spot any changes and to contact the patient's rheumatologist to notify them about the changes. The presentation goes over how to spot and what testing to perform to make sure there is no retinal toxicity. Patients who present with Plaquenil toxicity typically exhibit depigmentation that is located circumferentially around the macula, giving it a “bull’s eye” pattern. Consequently, this clinical finding is often termed bull’s eye maculopathy. Dec 17, 2019 Macular edema occurs when fluid builds up in the retina—the light sensitive tissue in the back of the eye. This causes swelling and can distort vision. The macula, in the center of the retina, helps us see fine detail and color —it delivers images to us at a higher resolution than any camera or screen. The other day when I was at the opthamologist, for my visual field test for plaquenil, the assistant said I needed to be dilated because "having macular degeneration means thatyou need to be dialted every 6 months" I replied, no. I don't need to be dilated because I don't have macular degeneration. Nov 01, 2007 The syndrome is characterized by headache, nausea, vomiting, tremor, hypotension, and loss of consciousness and is associated with profound vision loss, which may be irreversible. 27 There is mild retinal edema and venous dilation in the acute phase. Over several weeks, arteriolar attenuation and optic atrophy develop.

Lupus and mood and/or anger - Lupus - Inspire Sep 05, 2018 Hi there! I experienced some anger while taking steroids to treat lupus. I was able to have my doctor switch me to methotrexate instead and the anger went away. All the meds we have to take can have all kinds of side effects. Anger wasn’t one I was expecting! Take care.
