    Hydroxychloroquine hair loss

At first it seemed like it helped now I feel the same as before I started taking the medicine other than the fact that none of my clothes fit and there is a lot more of me to carry around. Anyone know if I quit taking it if the weight will fall back off I started Hydroxychloroquine 2 weeks ago. One week in and I thought this may just work, except for the ‘extra itchiness’ I seemed to get every night.

Hair loss and hair bleaching are both potential hydroxychloroquine side effects. Patients that experience sudden hair loss while taking hydroxychloroquine should report it to their doctor immediately. 4, 13, 18 From the community “I've been on hydroxychloroquine plaquenil for almost 6 years. My hair is thinner, but no bald spots. I had pain all over, fatigue and hair loss. Then two months ago I quit taking the Plaquenil, all the Fybromyalgia symptoms went away - much less pain, my hair quit falling out and I feel so much. My hair has been thinning for years, but even so, I noticed a precipitous loss of hair since going on Plaquenil, I think hair loss is related to the whole inflammatory process. Overnight application of castor oil to the affected area can supposedly help, but I couldn’t take the smell or mess. And Minoxidil did nothing but lighten my pocketbook!

I was prescribed this drug to ease my ra disease, I was taking 400mg per day which was to last for 3 months then reduced to 200mg. Right before I hit the two week mark, I woke up with my heart racing and continued feeling my heart flutter all day and I just felt week and tired. After msging Rheum, decided to stop taking meds to see how I feel and continue with the AIP to handle symptoms and try to work at ‘healing from inside out! Time will tell and I’m eager to see how much the AIP is helping once odd meds.
