    Plaquenil sjogren's fatigue

I'm not completely pain free, but it's a lot better than it was. I've been on plaquenil since mid June I have had a lot of stress in my life so I can't determine what is causing what. Not seeing any improvements with pain but I just went to 0 prednisone 3 weeks ago. said give it a few months and if I don't see any improvement I might as well go off of it. Wanted to let you know that I was on plaquenil for about three years and I told my RA doctor that my fatigue was worse. It just seems like the fatigue is worse than it has ever been, and it doesn't seem to matter if I go to bed early or take a nap during the day. Woke up and cleaned the kitchen an hour later(my kitchen is a galley kitchen 8 ft time) Took a nap. Early on I did get those stomach cramps and diarrhea. All my pain is tolerable and he sees no deformities so he says he doesn't see RA activity. Just because the pain is tolerable doesn't make me like it any better. He did a plaquenil test and sure enough it was low.

May 25, 2010 Hi! I think Plaquenil is the cause of my extreme fatigue too. I am not anemic at this time and I get exhausted just trying to get through the day. I have also been on Plaquenil about three months. All of my arthritis swelling and pain are gone, but the fatigue will not let up! Hope things change for you. Hi katalin ! I've been taking Plaquinil for 6 years now. Before that I was miserable! I had so many symptoms and felt terrible! Within 3 weeks I could feel a difference. My fatigue was less, my eye pain was lessened, the nausea I was experiencing, disappeared. For me, it's been a miracle drug. By the way, I'm taking it for my Sjogren's. Hydroxychloroquine is often prescribed, but has not been formally tested for this indication. Most studies have shown reduction in the ESR and immunoglobulin levels with hydroxychloroquine therapy, but the clinical impact of this is uncertain. Rituximab showed some benefit in reducing fatigue in a randomized clinical trial. 3. Renal involvement.

I wake up tired in the morning, get my kids fed and off to the schoolbus, and some days that's all I can do until it's time to go pick them up and make dinner, then I collapse after the kids are put to bed. I don't know if this is just the way RA is, or if it is a side effect of the medicine. Wasn't going to eat luch because I would have to move to do it.husband bought out. Kids came home, helped with homewrok, made dinner..picked up couch(because my blanket and pillow were there) Went to bed at 9.

  3. Jun 11, 2013 For many patients with Sjogren's, Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine has long been the go to drug that their doctors prescribe. It is often the first line of attack before other more aggressive therapies are added such as methotrexate or rituximab that have bigger impacts on the immune system.

I have been on Plaquenil for years. It has not helped me with fatigue. Things like vitamins and exercise might assist with decreasing the fatigue level. I have been on 2 Dmards and a biologic for the longest time. I also take Tramadol for pain and now Indomethicin has been added to the mix to help with stiffness. Basic fatigue 1. This is the inherent fatigue that I attribute to the inflammatory, autoimmune nature of Sjögren’s. It's with me all the time. It differs from normal fatigue in that you don't have to do anything to deserve it. It can vary from day to day but is always there. This is important as wheat allergy is positive in 14.7% of those with Sjogren's vs. only 1% of the general population.8 Treating the Pain and Fatigue. If the patient has widespread pain and fatigue in Sjogren's, there is a significant chance that they also have lupus, rheumatoid arthritis RA or fibromyalgia.
